I first
started writing HTML, back
in 1996. The Web was starting to really take off and I figured I better start learning HTML, so I got
me an "HTML
for Dummies" book, and started learning to code.
Prior to that, I got my A.S. degree in Computer Programming, back in '86. I remember my first BASIC program, which computed the number of miles in one Light Year. That was a lot of fun! The name "Cygnus X-1", is the name of a blackhole in the constellation of Cygnus. (I thought it would make a cool name for a company too!)
HTML has changed a lot, since
that first "Dummies" book. Now the standard is XHTML, which stands for: EXtensible HyperText Markup
Lanquage.
This new version is much more powerful than standard HTML because it incorporates XML elements, allowing users
to define their own elements, there by creating customized applications, across many platforms.
When I entered the Web Design Certificate
Program, in San Diego, I remember my instructor saying to me, "Sully, you're really going to like Dreamweaver because it has an
interface that actually generates HTML!". Boy, after that I was hooked! That was back in 2001. Today, I use Dreamweaver practically every day.
Whether creating sites, uploading images to the server, or teaching the program to others, I find it a very useful tool indeed!
At the same time I started using Dreamweaver, I started to become familiar with Photoshop and Flash, and like Dreamweaver these two graphic programs are simply amazing! More info on them on my home
page.
So, if you would like to learn one of these amazing programs, or all 3, contact me and get started today!
